Christchurch North Election – Mr Ollivier’s Committee

John Ollivier was born on the Isle of Wight in 1812 and arrived in New Zealand in 1853. He was involved in both local and provincial politics and in 1889, following the resignation of Sir Julius Vogel, he ran for the Christchurch North seat. He was narrowly beaten by Edward Humphreys.
