New Zealand Clothing Factory

Hallenstein Brothers opened the New Zealand Clothing Factory in Dunedin in 1873 following problems in acquiring garments for their stores.  This was the first clothing factory in New Zealand and supplied not only Hallenstein Brothers and Bendix Hallenstein’s D.I.C. department store chain but many other New Zealand stores.
